50MHz Trophy Contest

This contest is always made by the conditions served up by the Es gods. In 2022 the gods decided that Sunday was the day to play radio's and added weight to their decision by serving up 20 over 9 static rain to a number of stations on Saturday. So entrants choosing Saturday for their 6H entry may have come to regret their timing. But those who chose Sunday - or were were doing 24H sections - were rewarded with some good propagation on Sunday and many QSO's were made.

Summer failed to make an appearance for anyone - strong winds and rain were reported throughout the contest.

There were 103 entries, which is close to that of the last pre-Covid contest (2019) which had 101 entries. The pattern of entries showed some differences with more stations choosing the 6 hour sections over the 24 hour ones.

D4L provided ODX for many stations and the overall contest ODX when G3XDY worked him at a distance of 4540km.

Single Operator Fixed delivered a remarkably close finish between G8X and G4ASR - just 0.8% score difference between them with G8X the victor.

Blacksheep Contest and DX Group (G8T) (G8TIC, G0XDI, G7RAU, G4LOH, M0MUX and M0BTZ) who win the Open section by a considerable margin and retain the Telford Trophy
Allan GM4ZUK/P who wins Single Operator Open and retains the Six Metre Cup. His overall score was higher than that of G8T, a remarkable achievement for a single operator
Tim G8X (G4FJK) who wins Single Operator Fixed
Andrew M0GAV/P who wins 6 Hour Single Open
Richard G8W (G4CZP) who wins 6 Hour Single Operator Fixed
Iain ED5I (EA5IWZ) who wins Overseas
Leading Fixed Stations 25w Single Antenna MW8P (MW0OMB) (SF) and M0ICR (6H)
Leading Intermediate Station was 2E0NEY (SF)
Leading Foundation Stations were M7ALE (SF), M7PAT/P (6H Open) and M7EGD (6H Fixed)
